Interlocking Pavers Calculator
Pavers, base stone, sand and polymeric sand for a driveway or patio. Free to use, with a short guide below.
What this calculator does
Estimate the pavers, base stone, bedding sand and polymeric sand for a driveway or patio from the area and the base depth.
How to use it
- Measure the area of the patio or driveway.
- Enter the base depth. Patios are usually 4 to 6 in, driveways 8 to 12 in.
- Use the result for your material order, and add edge restraint and extra pavers for cuts.
Why it matters
Interlocking looks great when the layers underneath are right. The base, the bedding sand and the edge restraint decide whether the surface stays flat for decades or sinks and shifts. In most jobs the stone under the pavers is a bigger order than the pavers themselves.
Tips from the job site
- Allow extra pavers for cuts, patterns and curves.
- Compact the base and then the pavers with a plate compactor.
- Sweep in polymeric sand and mist it so the joints lock.
These results are estimates. We measure on site before we quote, and we confirm local rules with your city.
