Sod Roll Calculator

Sod Roll Calculator

How many rolls and pallets for a new lawn. Includes 5% extra. Free to use, with a short guide below.

What this calculator does

Enter the lawn area and get the number of sod rolls and pallets, with 5% extra for cuts around beds and corners.

How to use it

  1. Measure the lawn area. Use the area calculator if the shape is not a simple rectangle.
  2. Enter the area in square feet.
  3. Order the result and book delivery for the day you plan to install.

Why it matters

Sod is a live product. It heats up and starts to die on the pallet after a day or two, so you want the right amount delivered once and laid quickly. Too little and you wait for a second delivery while the first rolls dry out. Good soil preparation and watering in the first two weeks matter as much as the sod itself.

Tips from the job site

  • Prepare the soil first: grade it, loosen it and add topsoil if the soil is poor.
  • Lay the rolls in a brick pattern with tight seams and no overlap.
  • Water daily for the first two weeks so the roots reach the soil below.

These results are estimates. We measure on site before we quote, and we confirm local rules with your city.
