Tile Count Calculator
Floor or wall tiles for any rectangle. Free to use, with a short guide below.
What this calculator does
How many tiles you need for a floor or wall from the room size, the tile size and the waste.
How to use it
- Enter the room length and width.
- Enter the tile width and height in inches.
- Add waste. 10% is usual, and more for diagonal patterns or small tiles.
Why it matters
Tile is cut for corners and edges and some pieces break, so extra is needed. Buy from one lot so the colours match, because a style may be discontinued later. The tile count also helps you estimate the mortar and grout.
Tips from the job site
- Dry lay a row first to check the layout and avoid thin cuts at the walls.
- Keep a few spare tiles for future repairs.
- Use the trowel size and mortar suited to the tile and the floor.
These results are estimates. We measure on site before we quote, and we confirm local rules with your city.
