Fence Posts and Sections Calculator
Posts, sections and post concrete for a fence run. Free to use, with a short guide below.
What this calculator does
Estimate posts, sections and post concrete from the fence length, the post spacing and the number of gates.
How to use it
- Measure the fence run in feet and decide on the post spacing, often 6 to 8 ft.
- Enter the number of gates.
- Use the result to order posts, sections, hardware and concrete.
Why it matters
Posts do the work in a fence. If they are too far apart or set too shallow, the fence leans after the first frost or storm. Knowing the right number of posts also keeps quotes fair and easy to compare.
Tips from the job site
- Dig below the frost line, about 4 ft in much of Ontario, for lasting posts.
- Call Ontario One Call to locate underground services before you dig.
- Confirm the property line and any city fence bylaw before building.
These results are estimates. We measure on site before we quote, and we confirm local rules with your city.
