How to use it

1. Measure the wall or ceiling area to be insulated.
2. Fill in the details in the calculator, such as the coverage per bundle from the package label.
3. Read the number of bundles. It already includes 5% extra.

Why it matters

Insulation keeps a basement warm in winter, lowers the heating bill and controls sound and moisture. The R-value you need depends on the wall and on the current Ontario Building Code, so confirm the requirement for your project. Gaps and squeezed batts lose much of the benefit.

Tips from the job site

• Cut batts to fit snugly without crushing them.
• Add the air and vapour barrier where the code requires it.
• Wear gloves, a mask and eye protection when handling fibreglass.
